We at Ace Courts want everyone to experience the joy of having their own personalized court in their yard. Courts can bring families together and increase time spent together. We also understand that spending so much money on family time isn’t always in your best interest. Fortunately, there are ways that you can save money and still have a fantastic court!
Do your own prep work. A portion of what you are paying for is the labor and materials required to remove grass, fix grading, and spread road base or gravel. A great way to save money on your court would be to do this on your own before we pour the concrete. All you need is a shovel and a Bobcat or Skid Steer. You can rent a skid steer at your local Home Depot for only $500 daily. They will deliver it to you so you can start preparing your yard for your court!
Pay in cash. When you pay in cash, you avoid the fees with credit cards and the time it takes to exchange money using checks. Paying in cash is much simpler and faster and will save you up to $3,000.
Skip the post-tension. Although post-tension courts are the best quality courts for playing on, a rebar and microfiber court is a great, cheaper alternative. Rebar is steel bars embedded in the concrete that reinforce and hold it together, while the microfibers bind the concrete together to reduce cracking and strengthen your court. You will, however, have to resurface your court every 3-6 years, depending on your location, whereas a post-tension court needs to be resurfaced every 4-8 years. Additionally, the ball will bounce differently than on a post-tension court. We recommend the post-tension for its higher quality. However, if you want to save money and aren’t interested in a tournament-ready court, a rebar and microfiber court might be an excellent option for you and your family.
Acrylic the court yourself. Surfacing the court with acrylic is one of the longest court-building processes. Our highly qualified acrylic surfacers use multiple layers of acrylic, measure and tape off the lines, and have to wait for it to dry in between. Because of this, labor is a large part of the cost of your court. If you want to save money, surfacing your court would be a great way to eliminate the cost of that labor. We recommend taking a class to learn how to apply acrylic best. You can even rent some of our materials and allow us to deliver the acrylic for a small fee.
Courts can be expensive, but they don’t have to be out of your reach. We can help you get the court you deserve!
